Penn State Alumni Association Announces Alumni Volunteer Awards[top]
University Park, Pa., November 4, 2002The Penn State Alumni Association honored several individual and affiliate group award winners Friday night in a ceremony held at the Nittany Lion Inn. The annual Volunteer Awards Dinner recognizes alumni affiliate groups for their first-class service and exceptional program offerings, as well as outstanding alumni who give of their time and talents for the betterment of Penn State.Individual award winners include: Volunteer of the Year Award, Virginia Sirocky; Recent Alumna Award, Cynthia Hamlin; and Philip Philip Mitchell Service Award, Larry Foster. Winners of Affiliate Group Awards include: Affiliate Program Group Achievement Award, Lion Film & Video Guild APG; Chapter Award for Community Service, Chester County Chapter and Potomac Valley Chapter; Chapter Award for Membership, Metro Washington Chapter and Orange County Chapter; Chapter Award for Student Support and Interaction, Michigan Chapter; Society Award for an Innovative New Program, Penn State Schuylkill Alumni Society; Society Award for an Outstanding Successful Program, Penn State York Alumni Society; National Service Week Project, Wilmington, NC Chapter; PRIDE Award, College of Arts and Architecture Alumni Society, College of Communications Alumni Society, and the Los Angeles Chapter.

Penn State Alumni License Plates Available for N.C. Residents[top]
University Park, Pa., October 25, 2002Football season is in full swing and Penn State pride and loyalty is running high.However, there's no reason to show your blue and white spirit just on football weekends-you can now join the tens of thousands of fellow Penn State alumni, nationwide, who are driving around with state-issued Penn State Alumni Association license plates.For the plates to be issued, a minimum of 300 alumni must register their names. To register, simply send your name, phone number, and e-mail address to Tim Brady (Charlotte chapter) at NTLION83@aol.com. Tim will be working with the Penn State Alumni Association and handling the details.To ensure you are the first to have an official North Carolina Penn State Alumni Association license plate, register today.

Prior to his current appointment, Dr. Ryan served as a campus executive officer at the Penn State Wilkes-Barre campus for nine years. He also has held various administrative and faculty positions in academic affairs, institutional advancement and college student personnel with Indiana University and at the State University of New York at Buffalo.
